Polishing

You notice that big polishing machine, well that is what Dave is using to polish our finished floor. A combination of water and a electrical big round sander. After He is finished, the floors get covered with cheap sheet rock to protect them from nicks and dents. We will seal the floors towards the end of the construction. The question is what kind of floor to put upstairs for the children bedrooms.

You mean the floor in your house is concrete not tile, carpet, wood, plastic NOPE concrete

How many times I have had to explain to someone "the finished floor will be concrete".
Many people find this odd. Concrete is beautiful.
Here are the guys pouring our floor in sections. You will also see the south garage being framed, with its wild roof line. This is my office and I have beautiful french doors going out to what will be a sweet little patio on the south side.

Imagine stepping out of bed onto a warm floor

Radiant heat is the way of the world in Europe and Australia. I am hoping my mother is never cold when she visits. The red tubes you see are attached to the rebar. In those tubes will be a constant flow of warm water set at a desired temperature. All the tubes run to a central location in the garage to the water heater. There will probably be 3 zones which can all be regulated at their own temperature. Can you believe this !! it even runs under the shower and the tub to keep the bathroom warm and dry.

Plumbing and Re bar

All the underground plumbing has been done, pipes for toilets, drains, shower, tub, kitchen has been installed, then topped off with more sand like material, now comes re bar to re-enforce, the radiant floor heating company will be next and then our finished concrete floor will be poured. At the end we will polish and seal the floor. There is no intention to use any covering like carpet, wood, tile.
Dave, our amazing contractor divided the space up into sections with a metal plate, hoping none of our concrete floor will crack in the future.
